BMR006 Test Chamber - No One Writes To Bullsquid [2009]

- This analysis is going to run perfectly today, don't you think? - asks one of those mad scientists, who are responsible for resonance cascade and following trouble. Yes, perfectly for Xen and Combine.

NOWTB presents weird dubs, stubs, little breaks, echoes, caughs, light-minded dub and minimal techno tracks, old pale Drill Instructor from the Opposing Force („As You Can See, You are Nut Dead!”), and „They’re waiting for you, Gordon, in THE TEST CHAMBER”, but this time it is weird dub with whirling, hardly flanged drums and percussion.

BMR005 Stanislaw Perzynski - Omne ignotum pro magnifico [2009]

36 minutes long opus is the second album from Stanislaw Perzynski on BMR. It claims that „everything unknown appears magnificent”. So, let it be. Drones, snores, hiss, far roaring and hum are words to characterize this meditative digital drug.

BMR004 Stanislaw Perzynski - Horribile Dictu [2009] – Something Darker Comes This Way

With this release BMR shows a bit darker side of music. Not the darkest, I promise, there will be much darker things, but let’s start with the little. Our latinist in titles makes debut with album „Horrible to Say”. Beautiful drones, the lightest one is „Cloaca”, which gives an impression of being in some fantastic forest with birds. Others are not so light, those reminds something from another dimension, something unknown. Who the hell knows what those track titles mean! I would use this as soundtrack to mystic horror movie. Not those tool and tableware massacres but something more like psychological thrillers with mind fuck. This will be offtopic a bit, but the „Eraserhead” is one of ideal example of fusion of sound and picture.

BMR003 Deaf Star - Ubiquity [2009] : The Space Exploration Continues

This is a bit more dynamic album with more explicit rhythms, and it makes this album a bit more musical than organic sound of steam vents in the „Spin”, but in the meantime the track titles are more ambiguous, lefting more space for imagination. Tracks are faster, harder, but the final track again gives me that feeling that I am watching the end titles of good movie.

BMR002 Test Chamber – Test Chamber [2008] : A Tribute To Gordon Freeman

Oh, the lambda universe is expanding! Now in the music field. Samples from well known time and place, the Grand Canyon still holds you. The Drill Instructor will smoke you like a cuban cigar in the opening weird dub track about your mission. The title „Test Chamber” track is more calm, but still retains the electronic dub streaks, some yet unconfused scientist tells you that someone is waiting for you (i.e. Gordon) in the TC. Die You Blood Sucker !– Barnie shouts somewhere behind the corner. Stumping slow techno track with dubby echoes. But I don’t know what to say about the „Dumb Reservoir”, but I feel like in very wet dungeon. This mini album is closed with a bit too long track about somebody who kill scientists. Dubby indeed. Test Chamber promises more of it.

BMR001 Deaf Star – Spin [2009]

Deaf Star is lo-fi electronic music project run by Sable Cypher. He makes ambient and minimal techno influenced music using sounds distorted by lowering pitch, reverberating and torturing and then putting them in the tranceful monotone tracks.
As the track titles reveal, the main themes of Deaf Star music are space exploration, objects in space etc. Oftenly technical activities in space are compounded with issues of human inner nature and philosophical aspects of space exploration to face the new kind of ethics which should be accepted by humanity to survive and to be the full-fledged inhabitants of the Universe.

First album from DS was released in the beginning of 2009. As I see in the front cover, the name Deaf Star have something common with Death Star from Star Wars saga. Actually, when I listen to those monotone rhythms I can see the life on this metal structure, which is actually as a alive being. When you listen to the track „Propulsion”, you can easily imagine how gases are blown out of valves and thus moves the deadly sphere thru the space. „Spintek ” is a hymn to technology, but „In The Distance of The Light Years” is like an elegy, it is a story about the solitude in the space travels, paradoxal isolation in so huge space. „Gravity II” shows me a gigantic metal hall, may be there is some kind of a gravity generator? I listened to „Speed” while watching Peverelist’s „Roll With The Punches”, and I wondered how good the track goes with the video. Final track „En Route” sounds like the final track. A little bit sad, a little bit concluding, like at the end of the movie when the end titles have been showed.

So. This is a music for the Space. For the Spacemen.

Lead In

So... This will be headquarters of Black Mess Records. For a long time, I hope. It should be a gallery of electronic sonic experiments and explorations, space for the mind challenging dreams and asylum of socially unaccepted mental states, unbounded space for unbounded love. The rostrum where isolationist would speak.
